    5920g projector VGA connector results in dull pic

    Hi

    I recently changed my gfx from a nvidia to ati. It usually works well - but I've now realised that if I connect to a projector using the blue connector on the side, the resulting pic projected is very dull and faded.

    This happened with a number of projectors. Is it a drivers issue, or should I tweak the settings somewhere? Other laptops worked fine.

    Also - thinking of getting a SSD hard disk. Anything decent on amazon for £60? Will it really give me a performance boost?

    Check if the signaling voltage is the correct 0.7V value. (Display a white image on the projector, then measure voltage between the RGB lines and the ground.)

    What's the common causes? Is it a short somewhere, or can it be caused by drivers?

    Not a driver issue, for sure - more likely some amplifying circuit (on the card or on the motherboard) going nuts.

    Funnily enough I tried this earlier today with an older TV and a 5920, I found that when I went to a higher resolution (1280x720), the screen went extremely dark and had a red tint, but it displayed totally fine when I put it down to 1024x768

    Likely that TV can't do 720p, or it doesn't handle widescreen resolutions properly.

    Would lowering the resolution fix it for me?

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - need this machine to run some presentations next month, and don't really fancy shelling out money on a new one!
