    Hello, everybody please help me with ACER 5920G. My videocard Nvidia 8600m GS is burn. I heated the video card and then it works for a while. And now I found 9600m GS for sell in my country. I read about BIOS mod but I'm afraid from damage the laptop. What exactly must do ? I downloaded this file 5920G_MXM_V3.WPH
    Is it the right file and how to install this patched bios ? With the patched bios can it works with different card or only 9600 GT ?

    Here is the model video card that I think to buy. Hope it will works on 5920G

    Please I really need help... Can I flash my bios now or when I get 9600m GT. Can it work with 9600m GS ?

    From what I was able to gather, the 9600m GS seems to work on 5920G fine (at least the MXM upgrade website seems to indicate the card is compatible).
    I'm not sure if it requires BIOS flashing though.

    The 9600m GT however requires BIOS flashing in order to work... but I don't know how that translates to 9600m GS.

    From what I was able to understand... NetRoller3d (a poster on these forums) made a Phoenix Bios patch which unlocks all of the menus.
    You could ask him for the patched BIOS and ask if the 9600m GS would work without it.
