    Hi!

Just finished installing all drivers in Win XP but I can't get the HDMI audio to work.

When I go to "Control Panel" then "Sounds and Audio" and change to "NVIDIA HDMI Audio" the volumebar is down at its lowest and the entire bar is "greyed out". Also if I play some music I hear a "thumping" sound from my TV:s speakers.

The driver I am using is 1.0.0.30 taken directly from the drivercd that I burned out together with recoverydiscs so its an "orginal" Acer (although Vista) driver.

I have also tried 1.0.0.26 to no luck.

My graphic driver is 180.70 with the modded .inf from Laptopvideo2go.

    Thanks in advance - TheSwede86

Edit: The other device is "Realtek HD Audio output" and it works fine, that driver ought to be me primary audio driver if I'm not misstaken.

Some Vista drivers work in XP, obviously, this one doesn't.
I recommend you go to Realtek website and download the XP drivers for the High Def. audio card

    Done that also, didnt work.

My "normal" audio is provided by Realtek and the HDMI Audio is provided by NVIDIA.

Pretty sure the Realtek driver tip wont work on the HDMI audio.

HDMI audio is provided by Nvidia? This can't be right.
You need to enable "Realtek HDMI Output". If this option is not available for you you need to get the latest drivers from Realtek as @Deks said.

The reason the sound option in Windows is grayed out and why you don't get any sound is because you didn't install the proper driver (if you used Vista drivers, then it's quite evident it's not working even though the device itself is working).
Go to www.realtek.com, download the XP driver for the High definition sound card and install it.

The HDMI option on the other hand is not that essential.
However since we primarily like the clean state of the Device Manager ... try this link:

That is exactly what I have done.

I downloaded the XP driver at the Realtek homepage for "High Definition Audio" and that makes my ordinary soundcard work.

If I check my "Device Manager" my ordinary soundcard uses those drivers BUT "NVIDIA HDMI Audio" uses drivers from NVIDIA/Microsoft.

See this rarfile of pics that I think would explain it better:
