    Thanks,
    Any help appreciated.

Considering how locked down their quad core models are, I doubt it.

Also I ran an X9100 in a 5935G and I don't think it would cope with a decent graphics card and a quad.

Get a X9100 or T9900 and an HD6770 for it.

Giving over any thermal headroom to the GFX and having a faster dual core is going to get you better FPS on the lower thermal budget.

So you are for sure running this processor? Can you post a CPU-ID screenshot? I'd love to buy a Q9100 or Q9200 but I want to be 100% sure it will work before trying it out.

    Thanks,
    Michael

If you run a Quad in a 6930g will it work in a 8735G?

I can verify that a QX9300 does *not* work in the 6930G. At least not with a stock BIOS. Maybe with a modified BIOS it would but I did not have access to a modified BIOS to try.

Was there any option to buy the 6930G stock with a quad core? Soon I will upgrade my 8735G with a Quad if it's possible.

Of course the laptop would turn on, but it would not POST. It would just hang.

No there wasn't. IIRC, the fastest processor that was available with the 6930G was the T9600.

Mine came with a P8600 which I tried to replace with a QX9300. That did not work - the BIOS would not POST.

So my next try is to use a T9800. I wanted a T9900 but they are $100 more for only 160MHz of additional speed - not worth it.

Acer has not released any model with X9100. And yet working properly. I hope that QX9300 also

I believe that is because the X9100 is a dual core processor.

I tried the QX9300 in a 6930G. It did NOT work. You can try if you'd like, but I would bet your result would be the same.

I believe the reason why the QX9300 did not work is because there is no BIOS support for it.

Well, I got all my parts and got my machine back together tonight..

    Here's what I found out:

1: As I stated before, QX9300 will NOT work with stock 6930G BIOS
2: The T9800 processor I picked up works just fine
3: The WXGA (1366x768) display CAN be upgraded to WUXGA (1920x1080) but you MUST use WUXGA cable part number 50.ASR07.002.
4: Even though Acer says that 4GB is the maximum RAM this is not true. The machine runs 8GB just fine.

I wanted to post that because when I was doing research to find out if I could upgrade the display there were no definitive answers as to whether the cable would have to be replaced and if so what cable would have to be used. The 6930/6930G service manual does not list the correct cable either. So for future google searches, it is *confirmed* that 50.ASR07.002 cable is the *correct* cable to use with 1920x1080 display.

Also interesting is that even though the T9800 is a 35W TDP processor and the P8600 is a 25W TDP processor my system actually runs cooler now than it did before. I am 99% sure this is because the stock heat tape for the processor and nvidia video card had broken down and was not transferring heat very well. I used Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal grease when I put it back together. The stuff seems to work very well.

I wish the qx9300 had worked but I guess I'll take what I can get. The cost difference between the Qx9300 and the T9800 paid for the shiny new Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240gb SSD drive I installed. Plus I got the 2nd hard drive caddy and cover to I installed my old 320gb 7200 RPM drive in the 2nd drive bay.

Overall I am pretty happy. I think the upgrades to this machine have extended it's life at least another 2-3 years. Well worth it.

Hi! I have same notebook and tried to upgrade to q9000. But no boot. What bios do you have in your notebook?
