Hi Guys,
I've recently bought myself an Acer 6920G laptop and as soon as I got it I wiped it and put a fresh install of vista on it.
The only problem is that vista now shows that I only have 3070mb of RAM when i should have 4gb.
Ive run CPUZ, and that shows 4gb, any ideas as to why this is happening?
Also, i downloaded all the drivers off the acer website for the 6920G and a number of them wouldn't install. These were:
1) Bluetooth_Foxconn_BT2.0_v6.0.1.5000_Vistax32x64
2) Modem_Foxconn_T60M955_v7.70.00.52_Vistax32
3) VGA Intel GM 965
The laptop is working fine apart from device manager shows 1 unknown device that is called 'Location 1 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus)'. Anyone got any ideas for this too?
Also, on the website there is 'VGA_ATI_M86_v8.451RC2_Vistax32x64' - why is there an ATI driver when there is an NVIDIA card in it?
Cheers guys.

Antony,
The whole 3GB/4GB issue is not a problem with the laptop itself, it's a limitation with the 32-bit Windows architecture. If you want to have use of all 4GB of RAM, upgrade to a 64-bit operating system.
As for the drivers, not sure why the first two won't install, but the third is for the Intel integrated graphics card on the Aspire 6920. On your 6920G with Nvidia graphics, it's not needed.
That unknown device is probably your modem. -
This is why your suppose to create restore discs before you do anything else. One of the discs contains all the programs and drivers for your laptop. Internal High Definition Audio Bus sounds like the Realtek HD sound driver.
-
Yes, i have made restore disks, but they contain all the crap that I was trying to get rid of by doing a fresh install.
-
Use the disc with the utilities and drivers if the files on the website are corrupt.
-
There is only one disk and it contains all the **** on it.
-
Well then you obviously didn't create the Drivers and Utilities disc. No need to call people names, this is a support forum.

are you installing vista 32 or 64?
internal high def audio at location 1 is modem
6290G RAM issues after re-instaling vista.
