Hi!! Ive got a problem. When i do the speakers test all is ok except the subwoofer. It doesn´t play some noise. Any idea?? Someone with the same problem.

Hey JBN! It's not a problem with the subwoofer, it's the fact that it's not really what is generally considered a "subwoofer."
It's more of a low-to-mid range booster for the main speakers, giving it fuller sound.
If you want to see if it's working, start playing a music file, then start sliding the Internal Subwoofer volume on your Speakers properties page. You'll notice the difference, namely b/c the main speakers without the Tuba sound like earbuds on full blast. -
Thank you very much!!

Hey, we all ran into the same problem.
It's rather disingenuous for other people to refer to this thing as a subwoofer - even Acer calls it what it is, a low-end booster. -
keep in mind the TUBA "woofer" only functions w/ drivers from acer for that model... if you upgrade to standard realtek drivers there is no "sub" function in the generic realtek drivers
-
whats the difference between "internal subwoofer" and "subwoofer" in the menu?
when i move the slider for "internal subwoofer" i notice a difference, but not when i move the "subwoofer" slider -
Subwoofer is for the output jacks, internal... for Tuba.
-
oooh thanks
-
I have a question... my tuba i think that doesn't work and i wanted to know if you select 5.1 in acer realtek software in control panel and test the Bass, u click on it the same as the other speakers, does tuba make any sound?... Pls answer asap cause i'm really worried beacuse here in romania acer service really su##s. Thank you very much
-
Yoshi, testing the Bass function in the 5.1 Sound Test doesn't make use of the Tuba. That's more of making sure you've got your cables connected correctly for an external sound system.
To test to see if your Tuba works, switch back to the default 2.0 setting, then open up your volume mixer. Right-click on the Volume icon, and click Playback devices. Highlight your Speakers, and hit Properties, then change to the Levels tab. On that tab, move the Internal Subwoofer level all the way to the left - your music should now sound like it's coming out of crappy earbud headphones. Then move it back to the right - it should sound much better.
If that happens, your Tuba is officially in working order! -
Not working ... i reinstalled windows and same problem... i think it's gone :| Tomorrow I will go at service for sure!
-
You tryed to download he driver from acer?
-
That's also true - the Tuba only works with official Acer drivers.
-
ofc ... i tried with the drivers from acer and the one from my pc... but nothing... searching for other alternative
-
Try this drivers: 2.06, Windows XP or this: 2.06, Windows Vista

Hi, I had this problem and was searching through Google to see if this was actually a problem, and sure enough it was. I was actualy going to go back to the store where I bought the laptop and play around with the display model there to see if it also had the same problem.
I've noticed that even if you use the audio test when you push the "Empower" button the sub test still fails (no sound). Based on what you've said, TheSuigi, I assume that the so-called subwoofer isn't really a sub to function with the 5.1 surround but just a bass-booster for general purposes? -
-
i don't know why everyone is saying the driver from realtek won't work with acer TUBA but i've been using the realtek driver all this time on my 8920g and everything is working perfectly. the tuba at the back work perfectly, unless it's just not working on 6920? or am i missing something here? all the sound test i tried with acer empower, realtek control panel and window vista's sound test all shows the 5.1 speaker works perfectly with all sound coming from all the speakers.
-
And jcwk, the reason you aren't having issues is because the 8920G actually has a full five speakers and proper subwoofer! The 6920G only can simulate 5.1 using its two speakers and Tuba. -
(( I am so sad. I go with my laptop at service and it seems that the sub was burned up and they will replace it.It seems that not all problems come from the drivers... I will have to wait for 3 to 20 days... so back to my asus f3sa
) much realiable but not so stilish :| I hope that my acer will come back soon to post u here if problem was resolved.
PS: Tehsuigi I realised that u are a pro at acer laptops and i have 2 questions for you:
1. Why a retail Vista DVD doesn't recognize my oem from acer?
2. Does a retail Vista not acer branded doesn't recognize the 4 gb ram ?
and one more... Can u help me with a DVD of Vista from Acer?
Thank you very much and i really aprecite your hard work! -
Well, I'll see what I can do in helping you out.
1. What do you mean by this question? Are you unable to use the Vista key on the bottom of your laptop with a retail DVD? Or are you hoping to keep the Acer customizations while using a retail DVD to clean install?
2. You seem to be mixing your negatives here, bro.It doesn't matter if Vista is Acer-customized or not, a 32-bit version won't utilize all 4GB of RAM on your system. You'd need a 64-bit Vista disc to do that.
3. Sorry, can't supply the DVD. You can download 32- and 64-bit DVDs off the Internet (slightly-less-than-legal), then do a Google search for "vista activation backup" - it'll show you how to backup your Vista activation and restore it to a clean installation! -

Funny thing is yoshi_alien complained about he support in Romania... Turns out the people over in the great USA (Texas) refused to replace my tuba. I sent it to them three times (keep in mind, I've only had this 6920 for 2.5 months, and each repair took about 2 weeks) and the last time they told me it's fine. I've done what TehSuigi said to do, and even explained that to them, and they actually refused to fix it on the phone. They said I could send it back, but their techs didn't find a problem. Waste of time. Horrible support. They don't even know their own products!
Oh well. I think I am going to "modify" the tuba, since I can't even find a replacement part.... Thanks for reading my rant.

Today I extracted the Tuba. The speaker doesn't appear to be blown, but there isn't any signal getting to it. So, I am going to crack it open and see if there is a loose connection inside. One of my friends that doesn't care what it sounds like may buy it from me. Might go that way so I don't have to see this thing anymore.... Buy something NOT made by Acer.
