    hey,

so i've recently installed windows xp (dual boot with vista), then decided to remove it and do a fresh install. however when i held ALT and kept pressing F4, but nothing happened.

i've searched this forum, and understood that the problem is that xp reset the mbr with its default file. so how can i fix the mbr?

i tried downloading the mbrfix http://www.fixya.com/support/t223496-d2d_recovery but i didn't work (maybe bcs it's for 5610).

    thanks for your support

Urmmmm. It should be alt + F8 instead of alt + f4.
Another way is boot-in to your vista.
Install erecovery management. Then open the erecovery management. Click restore to default factory. You're done. Just in case, make sure your D2D recovery is enable in your BIOS setting.

are you sure it's alt + f8? it's not working. however, if i reboot press f12 a menu opens listing boot devices, if i select the hdd then enter it boots to erecovery.

But I use alt+F8 to get into the eRecovery in order to restore my system.

You can burn out the OEM D2D DVD and use it to boot.
