I just got my new laptop, and I have had certain problems with the sound skipping. It's not very often, but it happens from time to time, maybe on average every tenth minute. It's not due to using very much CPU or RAM, it can happen even during very light usage. I just downloaded the latest drivers from the Realtek site.

i have similar issues with my 8920G but only on certain music vidoes.

i thought it could be related to the codecs.

are you getting the same issue with different media?

ie. video, mp3s, CDs? DVDs, blu ray?

So far I remember having it when playing video, MP3s and CDs. Haven't tried DVDs much, but it's probably going to be there as well. I use K-Lite Codec Pack 4.1.0 Full.

It has done it with my music and dvd's once before i restarted it and it went away. Have you tried restarting your computer?

Haha, yeah, I do restart it from time to time. Doesn't seem to help. When I play videos it tends to skip like a couple of times the first couple of minutes, and I can't remember it happening after that. Is that any helpful to know? These days I am watching a series though, so this pattern might just be specific to those video files.
