Hello all, recently acquired a damaged laptop the acer aspire 6920g.

It has a broken screen which in the future I will be replacing. I have been using it on a external monitor and it's great, I have carried out some
    Upgrades.

    I have installed a 12mm thick 1tb samsung
Spin point hard disc, upgrades to 2x2Gb hynix ddr2 ram. I have also added a Bigfoot wireless n wifi card.

I also replaced the stock CPU with the T7300 and now it won't boot.

It was fine until I replaced the CPU, of course I checked it out and
It is compatible, it boots up then shuts down immediately then reboots but is hanging with no output to monitor via VGA or hdmi??

Is this a FSB issue? I'm wondering if the memory is causing issues with FSB

    Any help appreciated

Did you update the BIOS before putting the CPU in, that could be the issue.

Have you popped the original CPU back in to make sure the machine hasn't bricked whilst changing CPU's?

That's my plan later, revert back to stock CPU. I had a suspicion the bios would need updating, I was chancing it to be honest. I thought it would be a good chance it would be ok.

Also I have never heard of bricking a laptop. In my past experience changing a
    CPU wouldnt do that

Very easy to brick (non-functioning) a laptop. All it needs is a tiny bit of static on the motherboard and it could be completely dead.

Anyhow, I would update the BIOS, and fingers crossed it will work.

I just finished replacing my motherboard with one sold 'new in box' off of ebay and the numbers didn't match up... but I threw in the cpu and it fired right up!
but I'm running a t5900 in a aspire 6920g so it might be a little different.

Its working, just checked everything and it worked after, no idea what was wrong. I found no issues all ok all plugs ok, CPU
    Mounted correct.

    Very odd.

I understand what "bricked" means but I have never heard it used in reference to a Damaged PC/laptop.
