Hi,
I was really wondering if someone could help.
1. my "subwoofer" on my laptop wasn't working as soon as I bought the laptop
2. then I installed the driver I found from ACER. The sub started working (on the Test thing), but the driver that got installed was an old (2006) perhaps generic driver. Whenever I wanted to play 5.1. it just defaulted back to stereo. (WMP didn't have an option for 5.1)
3. Then I reinstalled the same driver, but this time it went better because now the driver is the REALTEK driver (2008) instead of the Generic one. But now the Tuba is back to not playing a sound again!
DOes anyone know the problem?

OK I read this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=267684
I've convinced myself it does work then, just that it is a bit crap! -
OK, actually I think it surely can't be right, the sound is worse then my 5 year old laptop..
Can I confirm: When you click on the eaudio management and test your speakers...does the sub make a noise? -
I also have that problem! No idea how to fix. I went into audio properties and there was another control that effected that speaker, but it wasn't very loud, certainly not like a subwoofer... adjusting the subwoofer control made no difference.

I did all the things like change the internal sub, but that change was pretty minor..major tinny!
Any help would be gratefully received -
It's not a full-fledged subwoofer, and to think it should perform as one is going to lead to disappointment.
The Tuba is basically a low-to-mid-end booster, making your audio sound fuller.
You can test to see if it's working by opening up your Speaker properties, and altering the Internal Subwoofer volume level while playing some music.
You want tinny? Turn that volume all the way to 0 - the speakers sound like bad earbuds then.
If you want better sound, invest in better speakers. Methinks you expect too much from notebook speakers. -
So basically, nothing is meant to sound from the "sub" when you test it in eaudio etc?
-
Precisely - the Tuba doesn't produce sound in the range of the Subwoofer sound test, because it's not an actual subwoofer.

lol, man, just read the manual and I quote :
"The dedicated Tuba Cinebass subwoofer pumps out EARTHshaking movie house audio"
Bah! -
^priceless dishonest marketing quote

does the speaker sound crackily when the power option is on power saver mode? the tuba "subwoofer" especially sounds like this when its not plugged into ac or in power saver mode. i have an acer 6530g.

Just a heads up I have tested this with Windows 7.
The default drivers by acer are needed.
I adjust the internal subwoofer options on and off with the default realtek drivers, and there was no effect.
I removed and installed the Acer Realtek drivers and there was something close to bass.
Biggest thing is Windows 7 might fail the driver install, switch the combatilty to windows vista. -
I think the subwoofer is really great! I have the Acer Aspire 6930ZG (It has same design as 6920). You can test if your subwoofer is working by putting your hand on the keyboard. Can you feel a lot of vibrations? If you can't, it's a driver-problem!

Hey Warwon
I have horrible weak sound since updating to new r2.34 realtek driver,no bass and ive tried every adjustment i can find, was wondering if that new driver isnt quite suitable for acer 6920g and asked in a recent post if anyone had experienced trouble,do you think i have no choice but to go back and try official acer driver 5582 on their ftp site??
was hoping a sound update may have helped my gaming crash.
