Most likely it's overheating. TDP of your old CPU was 35W while TDP of Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 is 44W.
What is the CPU temp? Also make sure you've applied some high quality thermal paste properly.

Use HWMonitor or RealTemp to measure the temp.
In theory it may damage the laptop but in reality it won't- it just won't work properly as you can see.

Ir's impossible to go from 79*C to 37*C just by undervolting. Regardless- undervolting can't damage your hardware.
What application did you use to do that BTW?

ok i thougt i was undervolting but i lowered de FID from 14 to 11 that lowered the temp and the clock speed too it was running from 2.8 to 2.1. then i started to undervolt but it doesnt let me do much i get bsod. oh and i had to disable one core to get running 7 normally so i think this isnt good for the laptop. i used rmclock to undervolt. by the way the processor works with one core activated. i had to disable one for the laptop to startup normal do you know why is this happening?

That's unlikely- if the socket was damaged it wouldn't have worked at all.
Do you still have an old CPU? If an old one works fine and the new one doesn't that rules out everything except for a new CPU or overheating,

yes i have the old one but it doesnt work. thats why i bought another the old one was the one i mentioned. with that old processor i had to disable one for the laptop to startup because it was shutting down randomly, then i had to disable both and the laptop worked and more further i had that result which was that the laptop wasnt working anymore(when i turned it on rapidly turned off and so on) so i decided to try to turn it on without the processor and boom! laptop stopped shutting off it just stayed on with black screen, of course it didnt had the processor. and then comes the new one and happened what i posted above.
edit: the laptop works fine with the battery, but it only lasts 5 minutes. this is with the old processor. but when i plug it it shuts down when it makes contact. reall really weird.
