    Hi guys :)

I thought I would make a thread as its been a whille.

Regarding the as6920g Is it possible to downgrade the graphics card to a geforce 8600? I know the 9500 that comes with the 6920g is a newer card but from what i have read the 8600 seems be a better performer and overall seems to be the best card that a laptop could have at this moment in time. is this in any way acurate? or is it just 5:30 in the morning (uk time) bs?

what ever the case, I hope your all keeping well and staying out of trouble ;)

Hold your horses there, DaRush. The 9500M GS is the 8600M GT, just with a different name and a few itty-bitty revisions here and there.
And an 8600M GT with DDR2 memory will actually be a slight downgrade in performance!

The best performers in the MXM-II category are the 8600M GT, 9600M GT, and 9650M GT with GDDR3 memory (in order of weakest-to-strongest).
And since Acer has released a 9600M GT GDDR3 MXM-II card, it'd be your best bet for the upgrade.
Of course, no one's ponied up the time and ~$300US to pull it off...

Cheers for the heads up mate. I supose its good to know that I have one of the best if not thee best cards for my rigg. It would be nice to know that there is options available to me though when this card starts to get a bit dated but by the sounds of it, it looks like the only option is to get a new lappy when that time comes which is not a thought that I relish having only recently bought this one, and £700-£1000 is a lot of cash to keep splashing out every couple of years. on a side note how long do the think the 6920g has in it to keep performing to a decent standard of performance Tehsuigi mate?

ps I was never actualy thinking about upgrading the gpu just making conversation tbh, though if it was worth doing and cost efective I may have looked into it at a later date, hell for the now I still need to upgrade the cpu to the T9500, I will get that done as soon as christmas is over and done with hopfully :)

What you may have heard is that the 8600m GT ddr3 is better than the 9500 M GS ddr2. But like tehsuigi said, it's not really worth the upgrade. You better buy a new laptop in 2-3 years for the difference in price.
