    Hello guys

I updated my GPU to 186.03 driver

and probably since I updated it my fan doesn't work very well

first because my iddle temperature is 60-64 and I don't hear my fan working.

I tried to use Riva, EVGA,etc. Probably the most famous program that people use to control their GPU fans.

So this is my question... how can I speed up or actually MAKE my fan work :D

    thx

nop, probably when I updated these days

because the first nVidia Driver that came with the notebook, it was fine.

    ps: I'm using RM Clock
    and I'll try this A1Ctl

and I heard that some notebooks have only ONE cooler (fan) for both CPU and GPU, I think that is not my case... but if someone can answer this, I appreciate

    edit: A1Ctl didn't work

If not mistaken, your model have one fan only.
Before you installing this drive, what is the idling temperature you got?
Forceware 186.03 WHQL(official) should be great and should not cause this bug.
Because I have using it before, it works well and my GPU(Overclocked 475/400/950 to 600/460/1385) temperature(both idling and gaming) is good.
Lately, I change to DOX driver. It works better!!!!

The stock drivers also worked better on mine but I can't get them anymore but seems like a normal range to idle at. My card fluctuates from 54C to 64C so I wouldn't worry too much about it. There's also only one heatsink in the 6930G and it's shared by both the GPU and CPU, but the fan seems to be CPU controlled. Before when I swapped my CPU, I forgot to screw down one corner of the CPU heatsink and got screwy temps. When I remotely stressed the CPU, the fan went crazy while when I used Furmark after I fixed the heatsink, the fan never really went that bad. I get the lowest temps on my GPU by keeping the CPU moderately stressed like running a background application. If I completely idle it with the CPU at 1-2%, I get temps like 60C.

well, so actually it's not a BIG problem

just kinda wierd, because few months ago my idle temperature was around 50

and I tried to clean my 6930G, but damn... I'm probably a n00b or do I need to open ALL the notebook just to clean the cooler?

and DarkSilver, could you explain to me, what is DOX xD?

How do you clean your laptop?
Get a vacuum, this is a best way.

DOX's optimised drivers is known Dox's Customized Forceware.
DOX is a driver tweaking professional. He takes the original Nvidia Driver and modified it. The driver will called as "DOX's Optimised" forceware/driver. You can check my signature. DOX driver basically gives better performance. For example:
1.) On Nvidia official Driver, you run a benchmark and got 5000 points.
On DOX Driver, you run a benchmark and got 5100 points.
2.) On Nvidia official Driver, you run the GTA 4 with 30FPS.
On DOX Driver, you run GTA 4 with 35FPS.

    Downside of DOX:
It lacks WHQL certified from Microsoft. So, it is not official.
It may increase temperature(slightly) for some machines. I didn't get any temperature increase with it(recent 185.85 DOX).
It may not able to support Blu-Ray Playback for some machines due to it lacks the WHQL.

    Installation of DOX,
Compared to original/official GPU(nvidia) driver installation, it might be longer/harder.
Basically, I install official/original GPU(nvidia) without uninstalling the previous Nvidia GPU driver(if the previous was original/official driver). The installation was smooth and non-errors. I got ZERO problem with it.
As for DOX driver, you need to completely remove the previous Nvidia GPU driver.
You need uninstall Nvidia Driver 1st.
You need a software called Driver Sweeper. A restart to safe mode to use the Driver Sweeper.
Restart the computer to normal mode. Install the DOX driver.
VOILA. Since you have removed and installed a new driver. You need to set your OpenGL and stuffs all over again.
Want to play overclock? DOX supports Nvidia System Tools(nTune) for overclocking. So, you don't have to worry about DOX driver can't be overclock.

    oh... nice Driver

    I'll try to use it.
well, I'll have to use my CM Notepal Infinite. So I can keep my idle temperature around 50-53.

and I'm using RM Clock to undervolt my CPU (around 0.975v) P8400. (2.26Ghz), however Everest and CPU-Z shows that my VID is 1.05 (I saw somewhere that this is normal).

and finally, since my CPU is undervolted and I have only ONE Fan in my notebook, this means that my CPU will stay in a good temperature, however I'll have to sacrifice my GPU's temperature.

and Thank You for the information DarkSilver.

Yes! Undervolt the CPU can lower the temperature of the CPU itself as well as its surrounding. With CPU runs cooler than usual, you can have your GPU with lower temperature. However, you need to make sure the Voltage you use for your CPU is stable which mean out of BSOD or randomly restart/shutdown(I guess you know this already).

I used to undervolt my CPU from 1.1375V to 0.925V. With this, I can overclock my GPU well.
