Ok, so I've read ALL of the threads on Launch Manager + Windows 7 here. I do not have a solution for the following problem:
I have a Acer 6935G which I have recently installed Windows 7 on (x64). Windows found most of the drivers, audio included. I then downloaded the Windows Vista version of Launch Manager (version 2.0.0.2), and installed - and yes, everything worked great.
That is, until I found I had an issue with my microphone in Skype. I had ALOT of audio noise coming through when using the mic... I realised this was because the gain was up too high, however to reduce the microphone gain (or boost), it was impossible with the stock Windows 7 drivers.
So? I went to Realtek's website and downloaded the newest Realtek HD Audio driver - for Windows 7. I installed this, and then low and behold, in the Audio manager, I found that the mic boost was set to +20db! I removed this boost, and my audio issues were fix! Horray... Or at least, so I thought.
Upon doing this, I realised that the new Realtek audio drivers had some how stopped Launch Manager from working correctly. The "e", web and e-mail buttons all work fine, however the touch screen audio slider, mute button, etc. do not register when I press them.
Even before installing Launch Manager, on a fresh install, the mute button would work!
So this led me to go down the route that Launch Manager, and specifically the "Cinedash" part (volume controls etc) were trying to control the wrong audio device. In my audio devices, I have two "playback devices" listed, Speakers (on Realtek High Definition Audio) and Realtek Digital Output (also on Realtek High Definition Audio).
I went ahead and disabled the latter (Realtek Digital Output), but no, nothing... the controls on the cinedash still didn't do anything!
So, i decided I'd uninstall the Realtek drivers i'd just installed. After doing that? Nothing! The cinedash audio controls STILL don't control my audio!
I'm so confused and annoyed with all this!
If anyone can help, then please please do let me know. There must be a hacky way to map the audio controls on the left to the audio in windows without Launch Manager (which now doesn't work with any Windows 7 Driver!)
I would also just like to add that i've also tried the newest Windows 7 Launch Manager (version 3.0.0.4) however the volume / mute still have no impact.![]()
Thanks in advance,

This is going to sound like a dumb question but have you tried installing the Realtek first followed by the launch manager? This is the order that I used and although I have not tried a microphone I am happy with the cinedash and the 5.1 sound on my 8930G
-
Yep, tried it a few times, in both order. I instantly thought it may need to be installed after, however unfortunately it didn't help.
-
Have you tried the old favourite of shutting down, disconnecting the mains power where it meets the notebook, removing the battery, wait 30 seconds or so, replace battery, connect mains and boot up (e.g. switch it off and on again, but right off and with a delay in between)? Seriously.
-
I have tried that twice, yes. But thanks for the suggestion. It's as if the cinedash no longer is any way connected to the machine. I'm 99.9% sure it's related to the launch manager (keyboard) driver, alongside the Realtek Audio Driver. But even if I roll the audio driver back as far as it can go, its still a newer driver than the originally installed W7 driver (and thus, doesn't work).
-
Try to install Lanch Manager from Vista. In my opinion it works better than W7 one. Also install the latest Realtek audio drivers. I have also AS6935G and all work fine
-
I have tried that. The latest Vista version of Launch Manager is 2.0.0.2, and I'm already on the latest Realtek version (that's what caused this problem in the first place).
It's the keyboard on the left simply won't control anything - not even mute. Mute always used to work, which is why I am so confused! -
Ok i've now tried three versions of realtek driver, and nothing will allow the audio controls to work!
All of the other buttons work, e-mail, internet, etc. It's just the audio related buttons that have absolutely no effect.
I have a HIgh Definition Audio Controller listed in device manager, the driver is a MS one and was dated 13th July. THis is obviously a driver windows installed from windows update, however i Cannot roll back, and I cannot install a newer version as there doesn't seem to be a newer version.
All of these issues started when I installed the Realtek drivers, but I'm stumped as to what I can do... no realtek drivers installed and the issue is still there! -
I agree with you that mute always worked even if the others did not. I have not got my acer with me so cannot experiment. One thing that used to happen on my 8930 with Vista 32 bit was that from a shutdown state I could press/touch the arcade button on the cinedash (the one that looks like a person doing a star jump) and it would boot direct into Acer Arcade was this ever the case with your machine and if so does it do it now?

I HAVE GOT MINE WORKING. I REPEAT, I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM.
After a fresh install of Windows 7 I was convinced it was a hardware fault - with the Cinedash still not working or controlling the audio at all. I also noticed that the cinedash was having lots of issues, changing brightness and turning off completely randomly.
I then realised that i'd, as soon as I bought it, installed the NEWEST BIOS from the Acer site - specifically version 1.14 from the Acer support section:
http://www.acer.co.uk/acer/service....tx1g.c2att92=122&ctx1.att21k=1&CRC=2980211862
I thought, could it be this? Yes, it would be wierd as everything was working until i did the realtek driver update, but feck it, it's worth a shot. I downgraded by BIOS to v1.13 and guess what? Cinedash is now working! Launch manager 2.0.0.2 is running fine alongside the newest Realtek drivers!
Can't believe i formatted the machine before realising this... time to set it all up again
I hope this is of some use to others - DO NOT UPGRADE TO BIOS VERSION 1.14 IF ON WINDOWS 7! -
Mate if this works i will send you chistmas present !
-
Nope its not working i insalled driver 1.13 but still same wth cinedash all buttons works find except that
-
can i ask how you installed the older version of launch manager? i tried to install the older version for vista but the setup program won't allow it.
I have the same problem you had. My bios version was 1.10 though so i've just updated to 1.13, if i can get launch manager 2.0.0.2 installed then i'll be able to test if your solution works for me too.
