    Hi all,

is there any major reason I cant upgrade the rather pokey 4200rpm stock drive with a nice 7200rpm Hitachi?
Besides my battery not lasting as long? :)

will battery life be radically reduced?
should I worry about too much heat?

    thanks

I haven't noticed too much of a difference. Battery life seems to lose maybe 10-20 minutes.

For sure, start up time is much quicker, maybe about 10 seconds. When loading games like Half Life 2, or loading benchmarks, they are much more quicker. Defragging the hard drive takes much less time now too.

Thats cool, the one I got is model HTS726060M9AT00 60 GB. Even though its 60 GB it only allows a max, well for me anyways, of 55.8 GB.

I got a Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM HDD to replace the original 4200RPM 40GB HDD, I found a huge boost in efficiency when cut-and-paste large files, it's helpful especially with video editing.[^]
