I purchased this unit ($329, cheapest retail one out there that I could find at a box store), for a spare while I was getting the issues with my XPS sorted out. The sole purpose is use for word processing and e-mail for work. My question is, should this unit be able to playback 720p HD content without stuttering/lagging? It has AMD "HD Internet" support" which means I should be able to get lag free playback of HD content through a web browser. I'm not trying to playback 720p Blu-ray rips or anything, just HD movies on say YouTube and Gametrailers. It seems that hardware acceleration works for .wmv but all other hd video types lag horribly. I have optimized this unit as well as I can...disabled all start-up items and windows aero. I have tried using VLC and Quicktime. I have tried multiple video drivers and the hd video still lags. Even web browsing on certain websites (like MLB.com for some reason) is painfully slow and doesn't scroll smoothly. According to notebookcheck, the components in this unit should be able to playback 720p video. Any advice? Thanks!

Return it. I had one and it's basically a hyped netbook.

Try Media Player Classic Homecinema or Windows Media Player.
