Back story on this laptop is that I got it for free. Had the boot loop issue so I pulled out the hair dryer to get it going. That worked alright although the disc drive doesn't work although I'm not sure if it worked prior to me getting it.

The cooling fins are free from lint and hair and I've applied as5 to both the cpu and gpu. The pc runs and the fan spins but the heat sink over top the cpu is VERY hot. The heat pipe further down doesn't even feel warm though. The laptop eventually just shuts down.

Just curious if anyone else has had the liquid evaporate from the heat pipe before. Or have any other idea what is going on.

    Thanks,

    Travis

I've seen it a couple of times. The first time it took me a while to figure it out. The area above the cpu was death hot while the fins were not above ambient.

Thanks for the reply. Well I may head down to the computer shop to see if they have one of these kicking around I can try out. Otherwise it's a used one from ebay I think.
