    Morning people, here's the deal.
I bought a cheap Aspire 7530 with a Mobo fault, the usual one of it not booting. I searched for a replacement mobo but found I could get one from a 7530G for less than the 7530. The form factor is the same and the only difference I could see is that the G mobo comes with a mxm slot for a gfx card - surely the better option?
I ordered one from the states, installed it and it works fine with the onboard GFX but now I want to upgrade to dedicated graphics, I finally managed to find the thermal module from a retailer in Germany which has now arrived so now it's just the gfx card I need - and this is where my uncertainty comes in.

Looking at other threads on here about upgrading the GPU there is no Acer Aspire 7530G - but there is a Acer Travelmate 7530G? A quick Google search reveals differences between the two so I'm assuming they simply share a model number and that's about all.
Getting back to the Aspire 7530G spec it seems the nVidia 9600m GT is the one to go for but to get an Acer one for no problems with the vbios - would this be direct from Acer? Or can I get any 9600m GT and flash the vbios easily?

I've not really played around with laptops and dedicated graphic cards so would be grateful of any help, sorry for the scatter bomb of sporadic questions!

    Jules

Strange, AFAIK the 7530G motherboard does not come with an integrated GPU at all - without an MXM card, you would get no picture with one. Are you sure you really got an MXM motherboard?

    100% sure
It has an integrated nVidia GPU built on to the mobo and an MXM slot beside it, the GPU thermal module sits on top of the onboard chip and the gfx card gpu sits on the other side of the thermal module so it extracts heat from both sides - if that makes any sense?

7530G uses a Hybrid SLI or whatever it's called and nVidia 9100M is the integrated one on this board.
