Hi guys. (my first post here)

I have this little machine that drives me insane mainly because of the amount of heat the cpu cooler has to dissipate, therefore the bloody fan noise.

I've managed to locate a certain ebay dude who sells certain ES missile CPU's and I've just ordered an ES 25W TDP P9400, 6MB cache, 1066 fsb, 45nm which idles at 12-15 Celsius degrees!!!

What I need to know is whether I need to detach the screen and keyboard and stuff to get to the cpu or simply work on the back of the laptop and unscrew stuff to get to the cpu.

    Thanks a million times!

ps. I'll be back with pictures, next week :)

    Hi, welcome to NBR.

Maybe you should've done a little research first, there is a possible solution for the irritating fan problem:

The above link is to the 3rd page(where the possible solution is located) but I suggest you check out the whole thread.

On your other question - nope, I'm pretty sure that you don't have to detach screen, keyboard etc, Acer laptops nowadays are easy to upgrade, you have to work only on the back.
