So.... there are no new 8104's Insight Canada tells me.

I am waiting for a replacement for my defective 8104 (battery and power problems).

I have checked the forums... lots of these are being returned with similar problems.

Question? If I get a replacement NOW there's a good chance that they'll send me one of these "repaired" units.

I am stuck with this defective unit that only works with the battery disconnected - I cannot buy another because Insight tells me there are no refunds... that it's down to Acer!

I can't believe what's happening here... it's as if I'm the last person in the chain to be considered by Acer and Insight Canada... and I paid the money!

Should I expect a NEW machine? How will I know that I won't get a refurb for a replacement?

Shouldn't Acer compensate me.. I didn't sign on to be a beta tester?

    Can I trust these guys?

    Is the pope a catholic?

    Suggestions please

    i had dealt with directdial.com
i just returned my third machine to them and they are issuing me a credit refund back. there warehouse told them that they have had a lot of returns on the 8104 so i wasn't the only one. but overall besides these problems the machine is great.

IF you get a refurb. the code on the machine wont be LX.. so check it out
.. how long have u had it? if short time, call acer and complain, u should get a new machine.

Sorry to hear about your issue but glad it was resolved , you will love the machine - I am on week two - reformat , re-iisntall and yes it blows away any machine I have in the house.

I thought I read the fine print on the warrenty (as is the case with most electronics) .....Acer reserves the right to replace with refurbished ..... but that may only be parts and not the complete unit.
