My son bequeathed to me his Travelmate 8204 (XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro) - thank you very much. I am somewhat computer literate, know enough to be dangerous, but smart enough to admit it. I would appreciate some assistance in walking through the process of syncing my BlackBerry 7100i with the 8204, specifically, Outlook and Office files. I have never synced my BB with anything before - all manual. I presume that syncing with one device to the laptop will generally be the same procedure with any other device. Yes / no?

Also, I am knowledgeable about the risks associated with wifi hotspots. What are the steps I should take, both through hardware and software, to properly secure my laptop while using wifi?

I admit to being a newbie - would greatly appreciate any assistance.

Its really nothing special to do.

Install the BlackBerry software from the CD to your laptop.

Even better do not use the CD instead of, download the latest version from here:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22

Install it, then run it and it is a step by step guide of how to synchronize.
