I got my 8204 last week. I updated the BIOS to 3319 v.

Today suddenly DVD drive is not showing up in MY computer. Deleted under device manager then again it is saying error with configuration in registry.

another problem is I can't turn off NUM lock. Every time I boot NUM lock is ON. When I logon to Windows I have to turn it OFF bacause I can't enter password correct. I can't find in v3319 BIOS to turn it off.

Should I return it & get Ferrari 5000?

You can try system restore, and see if that works. Otherwise, try a fresh install/restoring factory settings. What problems were the BIOS upgrade supposed to solve?

About the Ferrari 5000 - I wouldn't do it, mainly because the Core Duo is a much better than the Turion 64 X2. And you can upgrade it to Merom too (supposedly). And the travelmate looks cool as it is. But it's your laptop, and it's upto you. Try to read up on it as much as you can, and come to your own conclusion. It's all good, as long as you don't regret it later on :)
