Anyone else had this? I just was doing work, nothing particular (except for the first time I went to AIM mail because someone had sent me a mail there) and suddenly my screen started going to mega brightness (not sure if it's full brightness, basically everything just went closer and closer to white).
Anyone else ever had this? I did a reboot and it was fine.

i have a similar kinda problem.. except that mine just turns a single color sometimes.. the same thing, i do nothing unusual, just yahoo messenger, surfing the web and all of the sudden my screen turns a single color.. i cand hear the sound in the background, so everything is working... it is likely to be a faulty video driver causing this, but i wasn't able to find a newer version, so i use the one provided on the acer drivers CD... i never got this in linux (worked on it for 2 of weeks), just in xp.... anyone getting this?

no it just happens suddenly... i don't move the screen, i don't start any application...just out of the bloom... it doesn't happen every day, just sometimes, randomly... i just updated my drivers yesterday, let's see what happens

The 'bleeding' is because the electronics are no longer 'driving' the screen. This could be because of a bad connection in your LVDS cables, no valid timing being generated by your vid card or damaged screen driver electronics.
You may want to attach an external screen. If that is okay, then you can excluded SW or vid card problems most likely. -
I have the same problem with the LCD panel fade to withe and its start from the down left corner. This starts randomly and after the mega brightness, stripes in multiple-colors appear on the screen. I have a ACER aspire 5021 and its about 2½ year. I have found out that sometimes when I press at the down left corner of the screen it dissapear, but I need to press continuously.... Is it the LCD panel or somthing with the cabel connection?
(I have cracks in both hinge and its appear in MS DOS as well)
