When I first got my 8204, the newest downloadable Bios was 3312 and it made a big performance improvement. I actually tested my 8204 against a fully loaded dual core Dell Inspiron E1705 with a 7200 rpm hard drive. The 8204 was faster in almost every test, including some hard drive tests. Then the 3315 bios was released, and I remember people started reporting that the hard drive was slowed down from UDMA 6 to UDMA 5, yet they said bootup was faster. How is that possible? I never updated the bios for that reason. It's been awhile since I've been on this thread, but can anyone confirm hard drive changes? What else does 3315 effect?
