Hi
Ive recently bought an 8204Wlmi but was a bit pissed off that i got a dead pixel lit up green.
A major factor is that the notebook gets really hot inder the touchpad is that normal?.....oh and why the **** is it formatted in Fat32![]()

Hot on the touchpad? That's not too odd. My touchpad is a little warm. I wouldn't say, however, that it gets "really hot".
If at all there's any real heat, I think it's on the right side of the notebook where the vents are located.
As to why it's FAT32, I think it comes like that. No idea why Acer wanted to use FAT32 but you can reformat the HDD. Make sure you burn a recovery CD first -
Mine also quite hot 59-60 C when idle, and jump to 73 C when I played BF 2. Dont know whether that is normal or over heat, or maybe because i live in tropical country.

Yeh it gets freakin hot particularly the right half of the notebook - fan, keyboard and palm rest. (i reckon i cud fry an egg if i attached a steel plate next to the fan!)
A few quick questions if i may pls!?
Dont u guys find the dislpay aint quite as bright, ive come from a VAIO with xblack?
the keyboard is quite noisy. or noiser than usual when typing?
Regarding the recovery the notebook asked me to burn a recovery DVD at the beginning, i presume this is the back up. However i already tried to recover and did so without the disk, and it didnt ask if i wanted to format to NTFS, nor change the partitions!!!!....My Vaio did -
Hey g33,
The heat is normal for high performance laptops these days. Try using a notebook cooler as it lowers the overall heat buildup on your laptop.
The Screen brightness can be adjusted via keyboard or ePower Management icon on your lower right. The reason for default dimmer setting is to extend battery life on this machine.
One possible reason why Acer kept the HDD in FAT32 is because there are lesser issues with most non Microsoft systems or security softwares running FAT32 then NTFS. NTFS is exclusively Microsoft but converting your drives to NTFS is an easy chore.
Go to All Programs (from Start), Accessories and Command Prompt. Type 'convert C:/fs:ntfs' in Command Prompt to convert your C Drive. You can do the same for D drive with 'convert D:/fs:ntfs'
Your OS, data and files will not be affected with this conversion. All the best and enjoy your faster defrag.
