8920 + X9000 + 4gb Crucial Ram + Vista 64bit =

A smoking machine

holy moly this thing cranks. its like its on crack now. I wiped it clean and did a nice install of Vista 64bit. Smooth as glass.

Now the only thing bugging me is why they didnt install an AGN wifi card in this model. Tempted to add the third wire as I have a D-link DIR-855 which does dual band

 

i would suggest pairing that router w/ this card... but the WIFI button seems to loose functionality (i think it's a driver issue and may be resolved soon) (but that WIFI button issue could be due to his buying a DELL branded card??)
so by a RETAIL not OEM just incase!!

i've not tested it yet... but may just have one soon.... waiting to win an "auction"

but the DIR-855 or DIR-655 (atheros radio) when paired w/ an atheros 5008 (search for exact model since there are 3 or 4 varations) will give you upto 300MBS w/ a 3rd antenna installed in the laptop!

that is the exact model i would buy personally...as for the 3rd wire?? i have no knowledge of your laptop model and don't know where you have room

i'm being lazy and going this route, using regular wifi router antenna that can be removed when not needed...
check your PM for other solutions

 

forgot to suggest that you check w/ that seller and make sure that is not a DELL OEM part or you may run into the same problem the user encountered see the first LINK in my FIRST post of this thread

if that is any OEM part you may have issues like that guy did..

look for a RETAIL BOX part!!!
it'll cost more but if having a functional WIFI button to turn the power to the card on/off quickly is an issue then stay away from the DELL

for me it's no problem i stay plugged up to AC power 24/7
and can disable the card using the systray icon... (but power still goes to the card so it can be a problem for very mobile users)

if you are very mobile BUY A RETAIL BOXED part not something in static bag that doesn't come w/ drivers and a manufacturers warranty!!!

 

looking at pic on ebay that is a TOSHIBA PART!!!

should work fine but acer WIFI button may not work w/ this card

i know that it won't work w/ DELL 5008 cards
