    :eek:

    Hi All,

    As title really, im trying to update my BIOS on my 8930G from 1.10 to 1.13 (or maybe even 1.14). Im only doing this as id like to enable VT but the only info i can find is related to 1.13.

    Now ive downloaded the BIOS package from Acer and have tried to run the Insyde flash utility (x64 on Win7) but it wont install. After a few seconds it comes up with;

    'BIOS not for your notebook'

    In the Insyde application window i can can see the following info;

    Current BIOS ID - 8930 & Version V1.13
    New BIOS ID - KM2/TT2 & Version V1.14

    Any tips on what im not doing or doing wrong ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave.

    I've got nothing except the usual warning that BIOS upgrades are tricky, and doing it wrong will result in your notebook becoming an 18.4" 1080p paperweight.

    Hi,

    Still not resolved this problem, I've tried again unsuccessfully to flash with the SLIC modded and enable VT but i still get the error message 'BIOS not for your notebook'.

    Can someone please provide information on how to flash via DOS (as i cant seem to do that either), also as a last ditch attempt does anyone have any info on 'blind flashing' the 8930G.

    Again, thanks in advance.

    Dave.

    If you dare in Fla add the "/mc" option to skip platform check.
    Do this if you are absolutely sure you are doing the right thing.
    Try renaming the BIOS image file as well.
    Instead of ending with .FD try ending with .100
    Basically use the filename s as displayed in the official acer flash package.
    There are a number of filename s.

    :)

    Thanks for the help and replies, now all sorted. Strangely enough the only way i could flash the BIOS was by using a Caldera DOS disk made with Nero, every other DOS boot option failed :confused:

    Hopefully should get my x9100 tomorrow and can complete the final step of the VT enable 'mod'

    Again, thanks for the help/tips/pointers.

    Best regards,

    Dave.
