    Hi
I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version. I have the windows 7 drivers (latest) for this but the windows rating for aero and gaming has gone down, which drivers are recommended for this card (1GB)?

    Cheers

Maybe you didn't remove the previous Driver completely/perfectly before you installing the new driver.
Which Driver are you on? 186.81 from Nvidia Official Website?

You have to install DX9 runtime for the ratings to go up.

Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT will be very hot when gaming.
It will raise until about 80-90C normally without any Overclock.
Check the temperature of your GPU before doing anything stupid.
If its maximal gaming temperature is above 80C, it is advised not to overclock.
If it is only 70C, go ahead. But keep an eye on the changes of temperature after you Overclock. High temperature can burn the GPU.
Basically, Nvidia GF 9600M GT is very hot and normally people will undervolt(flash bios) it. However, flashing of BIOS is very dangerous especially to newbies. Bad flashing of BIOS can kill the GPU instantly if you're unlucky. After the undervolt, the GPU become very cold and can do very intense Overclock.
Download Nvidia System Tools here, http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.05.html
Install the so called "Performance" in the Nvidia System Tools. It will allow you to overclock. This software can be also called as nTune.
