    8940G Retention Bracket

    I'm going to order an 8940G in the next week or two with an extra 640GB Western Digital Hard Drive. From one of the reviews I've read the 8940G needs an additional retention bracket to mount a second hard drive. Does anyone know where I can order this? I tried contacting Acer, but they won't reply to me without a serial number...which I won't have until I actually order the laptop :)

    Not sure what it's called. I just need the bracket that mounts inside the laptop that holds the hard drive. I have an IT friend that said from pictures from reviews, it looked like it might be a proprietary part.

    I have already ordered this laptop from Newegg and I also attempted to contact “Acer Customer Service”. The imbecile I spoke with told me I cannot order the new Retention Bracket until I get the 8940g in my hands to read off the serial number. Only then will they even give you the time of day. As of right now, no one sells the Retention Bracket for this laptop but Acer. If you want one you have to buy the laptop, receive it from shipping, and then give Acer the serial number in order to order a new Retention Bracket.

    hdd stay in place without bracket.my laptop is 100% on my desk at home so I don't realy need it.
    but if I find it I will install

    I just install sdd :)
