The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.
I don't think the 8942 ever made it to the States officially (I had been looking for one for a while), as it was never up on Acer's U.S. site.
However, the 8943 is available, as I ordered mine last week from Newegg. Doesn't seem to have all the niceties that the overseas versions have, but it had the best combination of features I was looking for so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Hopefully it'll be here sometime this week.
It is also available on Amazon, albeit with the lesser memory (4 gig as opposed to 8 gig), if I remember correctly. For the price difference (Newegg was about $50 more), I went ahead with the one from Newegg.
