    Hello,

Today I got an 8943. I was told by the representative with whom I talked that it would have 2 hard drives; however, it only has one. I was going to replace the OS drive with an SSD (and already did) but then discovered that the second drive bay cover doesn't fit the laptop. I contacted Acer chat support and they gave me Mundocorp's address, but they don't seem to sell the part I need and my google-fu is failing me. Does anyone know how to obtain this cover piece?

I did the same with my new 8950G. I called Acer they said this model can't use 2 drives well they sell the system in Australia with one or 2 drives. Then i found this company Acer Products - Acer Store by Jtec and they have the parts needed and for my specific model. Contact them and ask.

Didn't want to start a new thread.

I'm looking for the 2nd drive bay cover for my Aspire 6930. The stock one doesn't fit with a drive in the bay and I've had zero luck finding one online.

    Thanks

I don't think that site ships to the US. This is really frustrating.

I've checked all over the internet for hours. I still can't find a reasonable place that will ship to the US.

I went ahead and ordered this guy. I really hope this is what I need; it's the only one I could find and I'd hate to pay $50 for the wrong piece of German plastic.

Edit: forgot link. Also, since I don't want to start a separate thread, does anyone have a backpack recommendation for this laptop? I was kind of upset to see it was too wide for my old backpack that I used for my Gateway.

I just received a part from them (Jtec) and ordered a drive bay cover yesterday from them. The company from England I ordered a part from back at the beginning of April and it went through and theyu told me the part I ordered was for the 7745. They asked if I still wanted it and I cancelled so they do sent to the USA.

This just occurred to me: Will I need a second drive bracket to install the drive? I'm assuming there's no way to screw it directly into the chassis? I couldn't find any brackets on Skyline or MundoCorp. Any suggestions?

There isn't one needed for the 8950G.

How does the drive stay in? Does the cover just hold it in place? I know for the main drive, it comes with a caddy; otherwise it can slide back and forth into contact with the SATA port. I'm assuming it's the same case with the secondary drive bay... what''s the retention mechanism? I didn't see anything when I opened it up.

Well the drive doesn't fit with the 2nd bay cover that came with the system. They don't even have holes where you could screw in a caddy.

Right, that's why I have a cover plate on the way from Germany. I see that you have 2 drives in yours. I'm pretty sure you known what you're talking about so I'll just have to hope the 8943 works the same was as the 50.

Since I don't want to start another thread, could you guys tell me what backpack you're using for your 18.4" Acer? I was considering this:

Amazon.com: Toshiba PA1453U-1BG8 18.4 inches Gaming Backpack: Electronics

But then someone in the Accessories forum advised me that this one has more room for books & accessories; however, it's mean for 17 inchers:

Amazon.com: Targus XL Backpack Designed for 17 Inch Notebooks TXL617 (Black with Blue Accents): Electronics

Does anyone have any experience with the Targus? Does the laptop fit? What backpacks do you use?
