I have a Acer 9302AWSMI laptop, which has 512x2 ram of memory in it....just wondering could i put a 1GB strip in, and still work with two 512?

This is the stuff i was going to get : 1GB DDR2 SODIMM 667MHz PC2-5300.

    Any help on this appreciated.

From what I understand you to be saying is that you currently have 2 512mb sticks installed. If you already have 2 512mb sticks in your notebook then you will have to remove one of them inorder to install that 1Gb stick. Notebooks only have 2 memory slots available and currently your system has both filled so you would have to remove memory so you can upgrade.

Bear in mind, that if your notebooks is under warranty, and you have to send it in for repairs if anything happens, they may request you to send it in with the original specifications. That could mean, they want to the two 512 MB modules installed.

    Welcome to NBR, Mattie.

Have you defragmented your hard lately. Try doing that and see if it makes a difference. Also, get rid of any bloatware programs that you don't use, and stop programs that you don't use, from starting on startup, so that it doesn't use computer resources, that could be used elsewhere.

I would keep those two Acer supplied sticks of RAM as you never know when the unit will need a repair.

As for the speed problem that mattie is having it may be related to the hard drive; if the unit is taking literally minutes to load windows then i would seriously consider a system restore on the unit.

If the problem still persists the hard drive may be failling
