Okay, so, I thought I should ask this question here before I direct it to Acer themselves:
My laptop (specifics detailed in my signature below) was advertised as having "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005," but when I view my "System" in the control panel I'm told that it's a 2002 version ... what's up with that? Do I actually have the version of the operating system that I'm suppossed to have or is this something that I have to take up with Acer?![]()
Also, I read somewhere that the MCE that Acer supplies isn't actually MCE at all; it's simply XP Professional with the Media Center function ... is this true?![]()
The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about buying a USB TV tuner so that I can finally start recording and editing TV, etc. (Speaking of which, does anyone have any opinions of a good USB or PC card tuner?)
Thanks a bunch!![]()

Media center is XP Pro 2002 with the 2005 media center add in.

So, does this mean that I can use a TV tuner on my laptop that specifies "Media Center Edition 2005" as a requirement?
-
the "Media Center" of the XP is basically only the program Media center =)
So check it's date, and it should be fine with the TV tuner. -

You'll need a USB or PCMCIA version that is supported.
