I've got a quick question, hope you can help me out? At the end of the month I'm buying a Travelmate. Intially, I looked at the 2480-2679 but a recently found out about the 3260-4784 and I think its a better acer, processors notwithstanding. So my question is this: which one would you choosen and a why if you please.

    Thanks

    Well, the 3260 is better.
Because of the : better processor, 1Gigabit lan, Super-multi drive, more L2 cache.Though the other model has Card-bus and is slightly smaller.
3260 has XP Pro while the other has Vista Basic.
P.S. : I just had to use some of my *methods* :D

OK so I was preparing the purchase the 3260 but I can't find any reviews. Does anyone have any knowledge or reviews they can point me to. I would like to hear peer reviews or industry reviews.

    Can anyone help me out?

Perhaps you should go the the WSIB forum and consider the FAQ. Without knowing what you plan to do with it, it's kind of hard to help.

I just want to verify its (TM 3260) reliability - I'm only looking for average+ rating. I need a second fairly inexpensive laptop to backup my main laptop and go with me in the field. A tougher, spec'd out model will be given to me at the end of the year but I need a backup laptop now in the interim. As stated above, I had decided on the TM2480 as it had good reviews at newegg. While searching their website I came across the TM 3260 and it has better specs and possibly a more solid build for $50-75 more than the TM2480. You've been helpful in verifying that on paper the TM3260 is the better machine but I can't find one single review on this machine and that gives me pause. I realize its not the newest thing out the block but shouldn't there be one review somewhere? So I came to the Acer forum hoping to find some help. While I'm not a complete novice (I lurk more than I post) I want to make a sound buying decision. The WSIB forum directed me to business class notebooks and make some Hp and Lenevo suggestions that I've explored, and how I managed to find the Travelmates in the first place. I guess no one knows about the reliability of the TM 3260. Now I'll consider #2 and #3 on my shopping list.
