    Hello,

Can I use an AC adapter that came with a HP laptop for an Acer Aspire laptop? I saw the in- and output data are very similar between these two brand's AC adapter. So there should not be any harm done if I cross-use them, should it? Thanks.

Make sure the connectors are the same, and have the same polarity. Also by similiar you mean the same? or just very close? I wouldn't try close cause laptops have senstive electronics, and having the power be slightly off could mess things up. [ :D]

I wouldn't even chance it. Is there a reason why you would want to use the HP adapter for your Acer? Did the Acer one crap out?

Play it safe, if the Acer one is not working properly, get a new one. The cost for a new Acer adapter will be significantly less than replacing your laptop should something happen by using the HP adapter. MO.

If the Output Voltage and the Amparage are the same you should have no problem using it, other wise don't take risk.

In fact, I double-checked the numbers. They are NOT exactly the same. Therefore, I will not cross use them.

Thank you all for your quick response.
