Hello, how do you do all? :)
First of all, let me just say that I am not that used to forums yet.
So, have me excused if I made this thread in the wrong section or whatever.

Well, I recently got my Aspire 5920g, and at first I wasn't really satisfied with it. (Had problems with Vista, eRecovery fixed it.)
I don't feel like telling the whole vista problem story I had in the beginning. :p

    Anyway, moving along.
I have some questions regarding this PC. First of all I have to say that it works great now. :)

    Moving on to the questions.
*1st: I checked nvidia.com for what driver I had, it said that the installed driver was 101.38.
I think this driver is a little old, also because the PC suggested that I should update it. Although, on laptopvideo2go.com I took a driverscan, which told me that the Graphic card driver was OK, but that some other stuff had bad drivers.
But I don't mind, I just want graphic drivers anyway. :)
So, the driverscan said that the graphic card drivers were good, and the PC said it wasn't, well, I'd rather trust the PC, so here comes the first question!

**Question number one**: What drivers do I need, where can I download them, and how do I do it? (I don't know exactly how to update drivers, because I'm both inexperienced and I have Vista now.)
Note that I am mostly interesting in playing games, if anyone needs to know that. :)

*2nd: I noticed fast that the 5920g was full of bloatware. Actually it's so much bloatware, that when the system is idle, 40-50% of the RAM is used. Which is pretty much I would say.
So, the second question would be:

**Question number two**: What programs can I disable/uninstall, in order to make my system not eating that much RAM? What programs, and if needed, how?

*And, a little question at the end...
I was going to pick an avatar, but none of the pics would show. (I wanted to choose an Acer avatar. ;) )
-Help would be gladly appreciated. :)

    Welcome!!!

First, you can download the drivers manually from laptopvideo2go. Explicit instructions regarding installing can be found on the site.

High RAM usage is VERY normal for Vista. The OS caches a lot of stuff in RAM, but it will automatically free them if needed.

You can take my avatar if you want, :p

    Hey Patrick.
*I know high RAM usage is normal in Vista, but 1GB on idle, is that normal? That sounds like an awful lot of RAM usage, since, after all, my last PC with XP only used around 200-250mb RAM Idle. But are there any programs I can uninstall to reduce the RAM usage? (Acer bloatware for example.)

*Could you link to the site you are refering to about the driver installing? Like I said, I'm still a bit noob to the forum-thingy. :)

*Regarding the avatar... Shouldn't I be able to see the pictures of the acer computers, or is this a bug or something? :)

Yes, even 1GB on idle is normal. Remember Vista has around 70 processes running by default as well. However, go ahead and uninstall any software that you don't want. Personally I kept almost all Acer softwares. Anyway, don't just look at the numbers... You shouldn't be worried unless you actually have problems. Most XP switchers were overwhelmed by pure data, but in real life situation Vista runs very well.

Choose a driver from here and remember to download the "modded INF".

ummm.. I don't quite understand what you meant last.

    Thanks, I'll look into it.

What I mean was, when I go to the User CP (Control Panel) I am able to choose an avatar, I can upload my own, or choose between some avatars that are already there. (Like, I could choose between around 30 Acer Avatars.)

User CP --> Edit Avatar --> Then I could choose between some pre-defined avatars, like in the Acer category.
When I have for example chosen the Acer category, I can pick an avatar, but I can't see the pictures, it's like if the pictures weren't loaded.

Nevermind the last post I made. :)
I just have a quick question.
A few days ago, I got a message saying there were an error or something with the graphic card, and that windows would search for an answer on how to fix it. It said that Nvidia didn't have what it takes to fix the problem, but I should download the newest drivers... Something like that, I can't remember completely.
What I need to find, if possible, is the place where I can view all the error messages I've had. I hope you guys understood what I meant.

EDIT: nevermind, I found it. :)
