At approximatly 11:30pm 30th of October 2010 my Acer Aspire 5935G passed away due to presumed short circuit.
The monitor cable modifications had been tried before and all seemed well, I made some final adjustments and once trying it for the last time the computer failed to respond to the power button.
All symptoms point to motherboard failure.
I am in the process of getting a 7738g second hand. All componants will be moved over and i'll maybe upgrade its screen later (it comes with a dual channel LVDS cable).
My 5935G has served me well.![]()

Your machine was a real trooper; those components will serve others well. -
I couldn't live with myself if I didn't take the day off from work out of respect for your loss.

You'll notice the 7738g also has an MXM-A slot

Notebookcheck have a review with a picture showing an MXM module.
Combine that with MXM modules listed in the FRU, the types of GPUs offered (GT130M, GT240m both MXM cards that acer makes) then im pretty sure. -
But anyway, is it up to the motherboard or else?
If motherboard, would you try ordering a replacement?
Or you`re going to replace it with a "newborn"?
UPDATE:
Didn`t read first post completely... -
