I received my AOD250 yesterday. I've been searching and searching for an answer.

I've tried updating the BIOS. I've tried doing several methods that I've come across such as taking the battery out and reinserting it, powering it on without the battery and trying a different AC adapter.

None of these have helped me.

When I take out my AC adapter, the netbook will stay on for about 30 seconds and then shut off.

If anyone can help, please by any means do so. I'm going crazy over this.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm not sure that the netbook is even detecting the battery.

It may just be a duff battery, as it does run for a few seconds... or it may not.
As you received it only yesterday... and it's faulty...then send the thing back :)

Could that really be the problem? I got it refurbished from another store off ebay.

I thought this problem was widespread.

Honestly don't know... it's a logical thing to eliminate first though... but surely you have some redress from the supplier. You have bought it. It doesn't work as intended !

I googled it with you saying "common problem" and yes, I see loads of issues but no definite "we know what that is and this is the fix" that I could see.

if it's refurbished logical explanation is that it's not been properly repaired, battery or main-board
