I'm not quite sure why this no longer charges. (Acer Aspire 5610 series) I made sure that I wrapped it correctly (not wrapping around the battery)...are there any alternatives that I may use instead of purchasing brand new from acer itself? I previously purchased one from ebay that was pure garbage. The charge lasted for all of about 10 minutes and the mousepad was dysfunctional with the charger plugged in. Please help!!! :D

First you need to make sure the ac adaptor is at fault. Do you have or know anyone who has a multimeter, with that you will be able to test the adaptor to see if its outputting the correct voltage.

If the AC adaptor is at fault then you will need to buy new and prefrably an ACER original.

If the AC adaptor is at fault then its probably the battery which needs replaced. If after that it still dosent charge the a repair of your laptop will be required.

Thanks! I have a friend with a multimeter...I'm going to have him check it out! Thanks. Just as a sidestep...how long should your actual batter last before replacement is required? Should I get this from acer as well or is it ok to find a substitute?

The batteries life span depends on how much you use your laptop.

If you live in UK then there is a company we use at work called PSA Spares
http://shop.psaspares.co.uk/ They do replacement Laptop PSU's and Batteries not original but we have never had any problems with their spares.
They are a very good company, fast, friendly and very helpfull.

If you call them ASK for Darren, Laura or Claire and say hi from me (Andrew @ Logic Business Systems).

On your response you noted that if the adapter is at fault, my battery
also needs to be replaced, as well as the adapter...am I correct. Sorry for the repetition, I just need to be certain that I make sure I understand correctly...thanks again!!!

No, If your Adaptor is at fault then you should only need a new adaptor. I was just meaning that you should make sure the ac adaptor is at fault before you get a replacement.
