I want to stop using my wireless connection on my laptop and plug an ethernet lead in. But when I plug this lead in my laptop just stays connected to to my wireless network. I tried disabling the Wireless on my computer then putting the lead in but still it wont attempt to connect to the internet with the ethernet lead in. What driver do I need to download so it will recognize the lead is in the laptop and attempt to connect to the internet?

    I have an ACER 5610/Z

You may not have your ethernet drivers installed so you can either check in device manager, or download and install/re-install them here Ethernet Driver

Now you may not even need to the above.
So first, Go to Control Pannel>Network Connections>Right Click on the Wireless and click "Disable">Right Click on the Ethernet and click "Enable"(if it's not already enabled).
Now your ethernet should aquire the network address and connect in a few seconds.

Then try your internet, it should work.

Go to device manger and you'll see an uninstalled network device with a yellow mark next to it. Right click on it and click "Update Driver">(I don't remember exactly what you'll see because I'm currently on vista) click browse and locate the folder you downloaded with the drivers and select the "b57win32" file and hit Ok.
    Windows will install the driver.
Now go back to network connections and see if the Ethernet card is there.

Woah you have a'lot of uninstalled devices...
We can take care of those later if you'd like. It's the "Ethernet Controller" that you want to pick ;)
