    Hi folks,

I visited a friend in London the other day who owns this machine. Does not play DVDs, my computer doesn't see this drive. Device Manager showed that the DVD driver was in an error state (small yellow exclamation mark icon) so rebooted and let XP try to do a reinstall - to no avail.

"Error Code 32" was reported and that the driver was in an error state.

I don't really want to mess with the registry, and the laptop is only connected to the internet via Vodaphone dongle. Can anyone advise me as to what I might be able to do? Shall I email her an updated driver or attempt a recovery (provided it actually has a recovery partition)?

I'm now back in Bournemouth, so can only really advise her over the phone.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Saul
