ok, i do regret upgrading to the free win7. thought it would make life faster, but nothing but the same issues that acer shipped unit with.

lockups are back! great, sometimes i have to reboot 3 times in a day

powermanagement issues: units screen wont come back on after waking up; units battery icon stays 'plugged in' after ac cord removed, and causes strange behavior; and unit leaks battery to min. WHEN asleep!

acer seems to say DONT upgrade your bios unless one of there pawns tells you, but i havent got past the acer support asking me to do a harddrive scan for some reason.

i have bios 2.3 = should i go back to 1.3? this cause more issue or fix?

go back to vista, if that is possible? or xp? i have a full version of that i think.

believe i have latest p.mgt software and video drivers.

not sure what is causing lockups. seems random, not doing too much.

    thanks

I had the same random lockups with my 4810tz. It was on BIOS 1.28. Acer exchanged a new unit for me and now with BIOS 2.31, I have no problems with Win 7.

decided, in the last 4 months i have owned this, i have spent 40+ hours 'fixing it' and i work in IT.

biggest bad decision of a lifetime. i only bought due to 8 hour battery life. processor sucks, flash video sucks.

it goes on ebay next week, and never a acer no more!

its not the windows its acer s bad designed and problematic hardware
even the timeline series that are a little better than average acer laptops are the worst. i did the same mistake (i bought 3810T with the recall issue waiting 33 days at the service) all timelines that came with vista have issues which eventually were solved after lots of people threw away money and time.
ask immediately for replacement no questions asked
