Hi and thanks for any help. I am new to this form and new to forms in general.

I did some research on switching my 7720 from Vista (To much junk) back to XP pro so my existing software would run.

So far so good, I slipstreamed a new CD and installed XP in ACHI mode vs IDE. Then loaded the drivers from ACER's FTP site in ENU. Got some upgrades from Intel and then Downloaded Microsofts windows upgraded, 3 days later, I just have a few Issues.

    1. The computer is not Identifing the Communicatons hardware, (?) Other Divices, (!) Ethernet Controller, under properties manufacture is "Unknowen" and Location is PCI Bus 5, device 0, function 0. In the User Manual the specification list it as a "WLAN: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG", and "LAN Gigabit Ethernet". I have downloaded the Intel software for the wireless and it is mostly working but was unable to get any of the ACER downloads to work for the Ethernet. Any Ideas or directions??

    2. Under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers (Device Manager) their is the STAT controller, and a Ultra ATA controller, and then IDE primary and secondary controllers and Ricoh memory sitck controllers (3 total) these where not here in the Vista setup, should they be somewhere else or uninstalled? No "?" or "!".

    Thanks again, Wolfgang

    1. drivers from INTEL's site should work for that... just search "3945ABG xp driver".. what other network are you having trouble with?? is it a broadcomm?? if so the broadcomm drivers at this site might help???

    2. as long as those devices aren't showing a Yellow ! then they are OK and working properly... XP and Vista handle things differnetly.
