    Hi,

Whenever I insert a CD and click on the drive in my computer the disk ejects and it tells me to insert a cd.

Ist this a driver issue with Vista?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jan

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

I tried your suggestion, but it gives the following error:

    Installer encountered an error: 0x80070422
the service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

    Any ideas?

    Regards,

    JJ

Hi, have you tried uninstalling the dc/dvd drive from the device manager, then rebooting and allow vista to reinstall then run the fix it again and have you disabled any services?

I managed to get rid of the error and it seems that he is updating now. If this doesn't work I will try your suggestion of un- & re-install the drive.

    Cheers,

Did the update. Restarted. No change. Re-installed the cd driver. Nothing. I really have no clue what is happening.

Thanks, but unfortunately that does not seem to be the solution either.

Do you have any new or old software installed like Virtual CD or an DVD emulator like that?
That might conflict with your drive. Try to disable the DVD drive first, then uninstall the program, restart and finally enable the device.

    Hi Jaapk,

I had a similar issue with DVD drive. The drive did not read some discs.
It turned out that was damaged. Acer replaced the drive.

@ NKLive: Indeed I have alcohol running. I will try to remove that soft and do as you suggested. I did remove the device before and re-installed it without success, but I did not try to remove Alcohol yet.

@Lastat: If the suggestion above does not do the trick the Acer goes back for repair.

    Thanks and regards,

    JJ

Hi, have you tried removing the drive, with the laptop powered down, mains and the battery removed, power it back up again without the drive then shut is down again. Now refit the drive, mains and battery removed, and power it back up again...
