    Hi guys,

I'm hoping that there is some computer genious on here that can help sort this issue out for me.

I have an Acer 8930G laptop. I recently attempted to watch a blu-ray disk on the laptop without any luck. I tried installing powerDVD9 again (as this used to work) but again no luck.

Anyway - Next idea was to format the hard disk (restore to factory settings). When entering the Acer Restore program, it asks me if i wish to continue, i click yes. The laptop then restarts as if its about to restore to factory default and install windows again. Rather then doing this it then restarts as normal and does not attempt to restore.

I have looked on some forums and it talks about enabling D2D and pressing Alt+F10 to restore. However i have gone into the BIOS and enabled D2D and tried Alt + F10 and it does nothing at all.

When i first got the laptop i didnt bother creating a restore disk for the laptop as knew it had the restore option / hard drive partition.

So now im out of ideas, as i cannot restore, have no disks and Alt+F10 doesnt work at all!!

If you can help me with this VERY annoying situation that would be great.

    Dan

    Hi Michael_R

I have attemped this a number of times, however each time i try to write the recovery disks it just errors.

The partition is still intact and the files are there but i just cant recover them for some reason. IS there a way of doing this with out the disks and without ALT+F10 working (or a way of getting ALT F10 to work) ?

    What error exactly?
You could install the 30 day trial of Phantom Drive and create ISO images instead of physical discs. If you have errors there, then there is something wrong with the recovery software. If the images are created without issues, then you can burn them onto quality (!) media using your favourite DVD burning application. My favourite for this is the free ImgBurn.
