    Hi.

I have had my Acer for over a year and it's been giving me problems for a while.
When I click with my touchpad or left or right on a desktop icon or the desktop itself, it opens the context menu. Always!!

I found if I plug in a portable mouse, it eventually goes away.

The context menu should only open with a left click, but it happens with them all.
The settingas in the control panel for the mouse are all correct, and I no longer have Synaptics.

    Help!!!
    thanks

Are you sure that you are using the correct driver? Try to download and reinstall the driver for the touchpad. Let us know if that helps. You should be able to find the driver on Acer's site.

i use an ALPS driver to control my synaptics touchpad... (it's cursor used to jump around like playing mucisal chairs.)

i'm not sure what OS you have,, but i have a link to the XP version if you want to give it a try. here is the ALPS DRIVER

So I went to download a drive from Acer.ca, but the site is down!
I went to support and service, and driver downloads, and it's experiencing problems.

I should take this time to mention.. when I start my computer, I can use the touchpad to navigate, but it won't click unless I press ctrl+alt+del, then close the task manager. Then I can click, but it opens the context menu everytime - I have to select, "open...." to open a file or my internet browser.
I also can't use my left and right click unless I disable the touchpad with Fn+F7 first then enable it.

Everything half-works. It's insanely frustrating not being able to even copy an address from the address bar.

Can I download an acer driver from somewhere else other than the official site? A legitimate one?

    thanks for all the help

there is something funky going on between your software and hadware.... first thing i would do is un-install any synaptics software currently installed (even if not in use, some synaptics settings could cause problems).. make sure it's fully un-installed.

then download and install ALPS software check the link posted above,, you may have to look in the ASPIRE 5315 section to find the ALPs version.
