Ok so my laptop ACER Aspire 4736 is one year old and has lot of virus (eats my bandwidth when I connect to internet !).I had just one drive C: of 300 gb which contained both my OS (Vista) and data (movies , pics , songs , files).
So I decided to split the original partition into C drive of 28 gb just for OS and D drive of 270 gb to hold all my data.I did this using EASUS partition master.Noiw i want to format C drive , reinstall vista and drivers but keep data on D drive intact.
My question is - if I use ACER recovery using ALT F10 to do a clean factory install from PQSERVICE , will it wipe out both C and D drive data , abolish the new partitions and revert back to the original 300gb partition ? Can the new C drive alone be formatted before fresh OS installation and data on D drive be safe ?
Please help me out guys.Anyone with experience ?

PS - Remember when I first got the laptop only drive C existed , not C and D.That is why I am worried.Factory default might revert the two drives back to one and thus destroy all data ?!![]()

Hi,
if these data are of any importance, then you should have backed them up to some external media. Better safe than sorry.
Apart from that, 28 GB for a Vista partition is terribly tiny.
