Hi!
I have an Acer Aspire 5002 Wlmi laptop. I have ACER backups, ghost backups. The problem is, I installed SUSE for a project a while back and it overwrote the Master Boot records. So now the ACER partition won't boot. I cannot restore from the ACER partition. Also the ACER ercovery software has stopped working. I get partition error or something like that. I was wondering if someone could copy the Master BOOt reocords and upload them? I would be most grateful. There is nothing illegal about this. Not copying the software. Just the mast boot records so that I can boot from the acer parition.
Thank you.

PPS Love my laptop. It's great, absolutely gorgeous screen, great wireless.
The only other thing I need is a laptop backpack. The Wenger Maxxumus didn't fit. I am waiting for the new Wenger Pegasus to be sold at bestbuy.

Did you get any recovery CD's? Did you make any?...the first thing that should have popped up when you went into Windows was eRecovery asking you to burn recovery CDs/DVDs.

Yes I do have the recovery DVD. Do does restore the MBR as well? I guess I have been using Ghost DVD to restore and that does not restore the MBR.

Did the SUSE install erase the whole disk or did you manually edit the partition table?
If you have the recovery discs, they will restore windows onto the C: partition. I do not believe it will restore the recovery partition if you erased it from your hard drive.
Just to try. If you still have the recovery partition. Set up the hard drive like this:
PQSERVICE Partition (Recovery Partition)
C:
D:
Label C: as ACER and make its file system FAT32
Label D: as ACERDATA and make its file system FAT32
DO NOT TOUCH THE RECOVERY PARTITION.
Once you have done this. Restart your computer and press ALT-F10 to load the recovery manager. Check to make sure Disk-To-Disk Recovery is enabled in your BIOS first.
