Hi all. I just thought to start a thread on the 5620G models since there doesn't seem to be a great amount of info here (yet) on them.

So I just got an Extensa 5620G-1A1G16Mn for Xmas as a pressie from a friend (! :D), and so I thought to comment on a few things:

Firstly, detailed specs for the 5620G series can be found here:
    http://www.acer.com.au/acer/akc/por...7CA257361006EEF39?open&current=8.3&ms=expand&

Secondly, and kudos to Acer for this - the 5620G-1A1G16Mn came with Windows XP Pro straight out of the box. Excellent. Being in IT and not being a fan of Vista, it is great to see Acer supporting the XP-users without any headaches (eg retrograding, and having to find all the XP drivers etc).

Thirdly, the laptop is fully-featured, including Bluetooth, dedicated ATI x2500 256Mb graphics, and mine came with an extra 1Gb memory so now it totals 2Gb. Oh yes, and a carry case.

Then there's the $99 cashback, which I shall do directly, but I have been told that you get the choice of either the cashback, or an extra 2-years warranty (total = 3-years). I'll definitely take the extended warranty if that proves true.

But it seems an impressive unit. The screen is gorgeous; the keyboard well laid-out IMO; and the touchpad is very good for a lappy IMO - and its configurable tap zones are superb.

Only time will tell how this unit goes, but this looks the goods - and seems decently competitive against the Toshibas and HPs in this class.

Anyone else have any experience with the 5620G?

ADD to above: I can confirm that Acer (Australia) are indeed offering an extra 2-years warranty (total 3-years) in lieu of the $99 cashback. Winner!

Must give a big thumbs-up to this model - slick, fast, quality graphics, quiet. Check it out if you're in the market for a new laptop - and you won't even need to retrograde it from Vista to XP, as it already IS XP.
