    Hi,

My wife had an old Acer TravelMate 6040. There was a problem with the size of the D partition and we took it to a shop to be re-partitioned. Well they provided a very bad service (let's not go down that line, many things I should have done but it is over a year ago now) in that they 'deleted' the 'D' drive but still left two partitions on the disc.

I bought my wife a new laptop and we put the Acer aside. Now I want to use it for my son but I can't load new software (e.g. wireless adapter) because it cannot find the 'D' drive.

I have been able to download the free software 'EASEUS Free partition manager' but I do not know what is the best way forward. All I want to be able to do is load new software and use the Acer for a fairly lightweight task.

    Can anyone advise please?

    Kind regards, Robin

The easiest way would be to fully restore system using a hidden recovery partition (ALT+F10 at boot) and use windows disk manager (or other software such as EASEUS you've mentioned) to customize the size and number of partitions.

So your saying they deleted the recovery partition,if thats the case then you will probably need to use a windows disk and do a full install.

It doesn't look like they deleted the recovery partition- it couldn't have been labeled D:\ and it's rather unlikely that user has issues with the size of a recovery partition.
